A Patch of Summer

Fresh, high-quality ingredients have a mysterious ability to excite our senses and evoke specific places and times. In this mission, we’ll play with the idea of “summer”—in food form.

Tools Needed:

  • large pot
  • chef's knife
  • cutting board
  • large bowl
  • timer

Ingredients Needed:

  • dried linguine 1 box
  • ripe tomato 1 medium
  • basil 1 small bunch
  • garlic 1 clove
  • brie 1 wedge
  • olive oil
  • salt

  • When asked how it tasted, he said “like a California raisin, in the afternoon sunset.” I’m still trying to figure out if that is good or bad… We used quite a bit of brie, so our “sauce” was a tad heavy. We also think this would be interesting with mozzarella instead of brie. So, we might try that next time.
